New Year's Resolutions...or not!!!

Ok so, I know I haven't been a faithful blogger the whole of last year and this year as a New Year's Resolution I plan on writing more. I know I know, you’re thinking no one ever follows through with their resolutions, but not me, am not one of those people. You’re gonna see more activity on this blog this year, it’s a guarantee.

Oh that reminds me, Happy New Year to you!!

Last year we bought our first house and it was so exciting moving into a new house and calling it your own and all…I so glad we did that, I love the way it sounds “Our House”. But you know, sometimes it feels weird to claim something “mine” when I did not contribute much towards making it mine . Oh well whatever… On my career side I started taking baby steps towards securing an actual job… but that’s still a work in progress. Let’s see how that pans out. Keeping my fingers crossed as of right now.  Nothing else has happened in the new year so  far...

Dentist or Contractor????

Ok, I have never been to a dentist before and my first experience was...can I say harrowing in a funny way. I did not go for anything major...just to get my teeth cleaned. I walk into what I call the cleaning room and she makes me lay at a 135 degree angle on this not so comfortable chair and since it is my first time ever she wanted to check the condition of my teeth..so guess what she did..she puts this mini sized hammer and a sharp needle pen into my mouth and pricks my teeth  for 5 whole minutes...the funny part is that she told me to tell her if she was hurting me and I am sitting there wondering how I am supposed to do that when I have all this needle and hammer pricking my mouth... well I could always go "Issssss" and what if once I do that she gets startled and pricks harder or something...Anyway is it possible to even make a noise when you have all those things inside your only mouth...hmmmm am not so sure. So we move on to the actually cleaning part and I have my mouth open...suddenly this jet of water hits my teeth and mouth and the doctor starts pricking between my teeth with the same sharp needle..Aaargh what a horrible thing that was... to taste industrial steel on your teeth. I had no idea what was happening inside my mouth and I felt like a  housing contractor was  going nuts with it.  Then the nurse brings this industrial tooth brush or something similar to that and its smells of minty toothpaste...well she basically industrially brushed my teeth for me while I wondered why we had to pay insurance to do that...I could just go and buy one of the SONIC Machine thingys and will avoid the embarrassment of someone staring into my open mouth... After like 10 minutes or so I am very happy about getting out when the doctor says "Lets just get an X-Ray to make sure your wisdom teeth are ok" and I am thinking...GOSH is this never going to end...but I smile and as I am nodding my head to agree to the X-Ray, the nurse comes in with these cards and instructs me to put them in my mouth and bite them... Yuck!!! those tasted rubbery and disgusting and I felt like I was biting into a piece of bicycle tyre... once the X-Ray was done I couldn't wait to get out of the Contractors Oops Sorry my Dentist's Office and write about my experience....:)

Vadi Vadi Kaipadathe CD......

I have this crazy friend who is singing songs on Facebook....ok  not literally singing; he is typing out the lyrics of all these fun and crazy kuthu pattu and this one song Vadi Vadi brought back a flood of great memories...Homecoming 2007... the theme was "Wild with Pride"  and the ISA (Indian Students Association) decided to participate for the first time... well we did not want to do it for the sake of competition or anything...the idea was that we should have fun doing it... so we send out e-mail inviting participants and a bunch of people volunteer. The day before the event, we are sitting in our apartment thinking about how we could best represent the theme and this guy ( the same one who is singing songs on FB) suggests we should all dance for this song... all of us get super excited and  some of the people who can dance think of some typical fun kuthu steps that we can all learn overnight. On the day of the event, we get to the starting point at around 6:00 a.m. when it was freezing and someone brought hot coffee and fresh doughnuts from Krispy Kreme... we all load ourselves with sugar and dance our way through the entire parade route....It was so much fun and so crazy...the judges couldn't understand head or tail of what we were doing but they could all see that we went really "Wild with Pride" and gave us the first place...

Soooo...everytime I listen to this song... brings me back to that crazy Homecoming Parade and even as I am writing this I have the goofy grin on my face...

Halfway to Springfield....

So the plan is for me to fly into a bigger city and then drive with a friend who works there, "A.S". I am just so glad that am half way here and that I get to spend some quality time with "AS" coz we haven't seen each other in 8 months... I know am acting like am from the Dark Ages... but speaking on the phone or writing on facebook is not the same as meeting in person... So anyway, he comes to pick me up at the airport and  we go to his place freshen up and go to this really amazing sushi place called The Drunken Fish... it was AMAZING!!! I have never tried Sushi before (Well actually I did try it once at some Chinese restaurant and almost threw up on the table). But this was out of the world...I think my friend ordered the right things....cos there was nothing raw or uncooked or smelly about it... I absolutely CANNOT believe I had lobster spring rolls.

Anyway, I am so proud of A.S and I am glad that he is one of best buddies. A.S. has come such a long way and he has become such a refined gentleman. He is always learning and growing and the best part about him is that he doesn't take his growth to his head which is what makes him reach greater heights. We have had so much fun together... so many discussions and arguments over coffee and dinner...and we have had to deal with some irritating people and tough situations.. and almost always he is  one of the few people who has his feet on the ground. For all these reason, he is one of my best buds and am glad and proud to be his good friend.

Am just so pumped about my new dress...it looks amazing..its this sapphire blue satin dress and if there is one thing that am in love with next to my Iphone I think it will be this dress (Well,  that's until I start fancying somethin else).
